Sub-woofer Alternatives In Ba Utes?

Hi guys,

I'm planning on installing a top notch audio system but I'm not too keen on filling up all my space in the cab with a sub or 2 and a massive amplifier. (I'd even debate whether being so close to a sub-woofer is even worth it). But that aside does anybody got any ideas on a sub-woofer alternatives? Obviously it's not going to be as bass heavy as having subs installed.

I was told that Pioneer do some pretty heavy 6x9 speakers that could be used in the back spaces. Base magnets????

Mate, short answer is get a sub!!!

however, as per your question.. other options are....

6x9 and 7x70

some audio brands will even do 8" rounds...

man just make a 22litre box for a 10" sub and put it behind your passenger seat and put your amp under the passenger seat. you wont loose too much room that way.

all ill be doing is 7x10's in each side and 6" or 6.5" splits in the front

buy decent quality and itss sound sweet im not a big eliever in the subs in utes thing I think its to much and distors the sound coming from the front

also depends on wat type of tunes ya listnin to if you really like your bass through in a sub if you like clean crisp loud music dont

do any of you guys keep the back 5x7s connected with your sub installs? seems like they'd get covered up.

if you dont want a sub then just swap the 5x7's out for some 6x9's. just make sure they are mounted to something very solid not just that tin sheet sh*t ford use. mount a piece of wood behind the carpet that they fix into

From memory the Pioneer 12" shallow mount subwoofer, Part # TS-SW3041D, is the most slimline sub I've seen on the market, and available at any Autobarn store. I Fitted one behind each seat, in boxes, in a XG ute. And they have nowhere near the room we have in the BA utes and still had the seat right back. Im sure a 360mm square by 8 inch deep box will do the job fine, as these subs are designed to work in enclosures of minimal volume. But anyway dude they are designed for this exact purpose so google it or go check it out, and I think......maybe Autobarn sell them boxed.

And the easiest way to get a low level input into your amp is from the rear speakers using a line-RCA converter. I have a 12 behind each seat in my ute and the boxes are massive and still you can hear the rear speakers clearly as. Factory speakers will do the job just fine, JUST ADD BASS!

on the subject of pioneer subwoofer, I just lost my original 8" sub a/c lpg tank on my xr sedan.

I purchased the slim line pioneer 8" which fits nicely.

Will adding a rca converter on the factory bass input and a decent amp, get the bass back.

I had the same problem. I bought a pair of Pioneers shallow Subwoofers intalled into my BA. (Can't remember size) Originally, I thought they were ok; however Last year I upgraded to a BF ute and got a subwoofer box made for a 10" Hertz. 100% better. Box just sits behind passenger seat. Go sub box!
