Ive been told different stories about the instalation of the diff bush .And I dont want to go to the trouble of removing the rear end to find that I cannot get the bush out or worse cant put it back in.Can someone say for sure that you need a ford tool or is it possible without it?

I heard there was a Tool Ford had created for easier removal of the bush, otherwise the cradle must be dropped, the bush is in a metal sleeve which is friction fitted into the rear cradle / mount.

Speak to ford about said tool, and if it allows them to leave the rear end in the car. Otherwise, with the cradle removed the bush can be pressed out with some force, (hammer) and cutting of the metal sleeve to reduce the tightness of the fit.

The aftermarket polyurethane bushes could theoretically be removed whilst the cradle is in place, as they dont have the metal sleeve, but a hole would have to be drilled in the spare wheel tub to gain access for the socket / bolt as it comes out. (this could be resealed with a grommet).

I got mine done through insurance after I was smashed into.

Pedders Suspension did mine in a few hours, had to drill & burn the old flogged out bush to remove it. New poly bush they put in is wonderfull now.

Personally I wouldn't eplace it myself but that's my opinion..

I was quoted to get this done, inc the 2 smaller bushes!!! but they said I need to pay for new diff oil(only 10000ks old) does this sound right?????

Unless they are just trying to get more money out of you - no, you shouldn't need to change the diff oil if they are just changing bushes...

the three diff bushes are cracked! are there any others you recommend I should get replaced why the rear end is out????

I was told about a blade bush or something???

While the back is out, changing the control blade bushes is a great idea, reduces axle tramp too :spoton:
