May 11, 200818 yr #1 Hey all,I have owned my F6 for about 6 months I bought it with 32000km and have had a few problems of late even though I havent driven it much at all.Firstly I had a problem with the battery going fully flat over a two week time span of not being started.Replaced the battery then 2 months later the same thing happend. They said it was a faulty battery my G/f told them that they were full of sh*t and there is something draining the battery that shouldnt. It was fixed, But upon driving the car home the brake alarm light came on. Took it back they said they fixed it but on the way home my G/f felt the car was a bit different to drive and it was hard to put the car into second gear. Then after starting the car at home there were now two lights. The ABS and brake lights were on. WTF? Now it is at ford they told my G/F the problem with the car was dirty clutch fluid I said that was bullsh*t so I made a call they said they had changed the clutch fluid but the clutch had a lot of travel in it so they wanted to pull it out and have a look. If it is the clutch they said they will charge me for they job but if its the gear box or presure plate they said it would be a warrenty claim. I spoke to a friend who was head of servicing at a ford dealership and he said the presure plate had problems with springs braking so I am hoping it is that. They still havent fixed the ABS brake light problem :(If anyone can give me some info about these problems please reply.
May 11, 200818 yr #2 Mate - if you have a friend who is the head of servicing as a dealership, why the hell dont u take it there?Surly your mate will look after you - no???Regarding the rest of the stuff, get him to check it also...The battery could have been just due to a lack in fluid in the first one, it could be an alternator, or just the fact the car might have been sitting around a bit and simply ran flat...New battery to do the same, well again could be a lot of reasons, faulty, or same as above... maybe even something else...As for the warning lights, get it checked... If they have come on but now since gone away, and everything feels ok (when branking and they have look at it for you) I would say its prob ok now also... however just a guess...regarding the clutch... mate this is one of those things that happens - every manual I have owned (most of my cars), have all had clutch issues/questions as one point or another... had a twin plate brand new clutch in my Liberty GT replaced after only 22,500kms... was well and truly gooneeee! yet since new I had always asked and each and ever service for them to check it... report was always - its fine dont worry... until I demanded it was to be removed and looked it... Without taking the clutch out and being able to see it in front of you its hard to tell whats going on - in a lot of cases... they may or may not charge you for it depending on the outcome... so all I can say is "welcome to the world of manual car driving"...When you refer to the gear changing problem again it could be a number of things - clutch related, maybe syncro, or something with the gear box its self... Again hard to know without driving or seeing whats happening..
May 11, 200818 yr #3 They are probably on the money with the dirty clutch fluid. Get it flushed and bled. Also make sure the gear stick is tight on the gear box. The anti rattle clips on the AP's broke on the very first F6's but this has been well and truly resolved. The AP's do play up if the intermediate plate slides are dry. This causes the plate to drag when disengaging the clutch. As for the ABS/brake lit coming, check your rear lights and make sure they all work, if the do back to ford so the can WDS it and pull the codes.cheersLuke

May 11, 200818 yr #5 Author First of all I have been a manual driver all my life, Second I had a xr6turbo with a T5 manual that was running 260kw ATW and never had a problem with the standard clutch apart from it slipping sometimes from the power. The car had done 73000 kms. From what I here these twin plate clutches are a pain in the rectum. The clutch was something that atracted me to the F6 but I'm having second thoughts.
May 11, 200818 yr #8 To cut a long story short , yes. Car ( F6) was picked up for a service and returned to me with a farked clutch. Dealership wanted nearly $5K to replace the whole assembly. Needless to say a vigourous negotiation ensued from there

May 12, 200818 yr #10 plenty. mal woods, tex, CI twin plate. even a replacement AP can be found at well below the price ford will ask. clutch is one of those things, they can claim that any damage to the clutch is driver abuse, and you have to foot the bill. I have to say though, if they take the clutch out and there is some damage (your fault or not) the chances of them putting a warranty claim in for it are remote, and there is even less chance ford will warrant it.
