Clutch Really Hard

Featured Replies

Hi, just brought a BA XR6T manual, to push the clutch in is real hard, alot harder than any other xr6, the guy I brought it off dont know much about cars and said he has never had a clutch put in it and previous to that was a Telstra company car.

My mate from ford had a feel and thinks that it could have a dodgy slave cylinder or dud fluid, where going to change fluid and go from there (he said that ford can reject warranty if the fluid dont test up good due to poor maintanance).

Any ideas or has any body got the same drama?

Im a truck mechanic and a Kenworth has a softer clutch :bopp:

Change the fluid and bleed it good. To change the csc you have to remove the gearbox as it is inside the bell housing.

The fluid won't cause a heavy clutch pedal. If there was air in the system the pedal will be soft.

I'd say either the master cylinder or slave cylinder will be the cause of the problem.

I am going to change fluid anyway even just only to keep ford happy, my mate told me the slave is inside the bellhousing, not like the xD, he reckons half a day job just to pull gearbox out, hes going to make sure its covered by warranty (extended warrenty) so its there problem, otherwise it will be an over the pit job, the bloke reckons its always been like that as far he knows and he had 4years.

Changed the clutch fluid (and brake fluid), it was a thick brown substance :3gears: , sucked it out and cleaned reservoir, then bleed new stuff all way through, its a little bit better, have already got used to it, going to live with it now, found out the warranty it had is a non transferable one and stays with the owner not the car :greyscare:

Mate do yourself a favour and get an alloy CSC from Expensive Daewoo Spare parts for the T56. They are the same box and it should cost around $200. You'll never have to worry about it again.

You will probably find its in the slave cylinder better off replacing it

I think I will worry about it when the clutch packs up, dont want to be removing the box to replace the slave cylinder and have the clutch give out a week later to do it all over again, as then I will buy a good clutch and slave, is the Expensive Daewoo slave direct replacement to the BA 5spd one?
