Dream Machines Member 54 Member For: 18y 10m 15d Posted 18/07/08 11:50 PM Share Posted 18/07/08 11:50 PM My car is 9 month old silver XR6 T BF MKII.Polished bonnet with gold class when I picked it up and did nothing, used heaps. Paint feels grainy and rough however still looks new.Can someone suggest what products I should buy, and order I should put on car to get baby bum feel back.Car is outside day, garage night.CheersDaveHello DaveYour paint needs a massage with a clay bar to remove the metallic particles Also perfection is a process not a product, no product on it's own can make paint defects go away and the paint look insaneA two to six step hand or machine polish with the right products would do itThe amount of steps you do depends on the severity of the swirls, scratches, any acid rain and other defectsA machine will always be better than hand (for correction) Link to comment https://www.fordxr6turbo.com/forum/topic/44596-wax-vs-polish/page/5/#findComment-707569 Share on other sites

Usually I have to clean my wheels every 2-3 days (particularly the fronts) or else they are black. I tried this stuff following the instructions and I could wash my wheels less then the car this stuff works so well! Butto Member 352 Member For: 17y 13d Gender: Male Location: Kellyville, Sydney Posted 30/07/08 12:10 AM Share Posted 30/07/08 12:10 AM Hey Dan just wondering if you could give me a decent idea of how I should approach detailing my car to get it looking as good as possible. I have a Silhoutte ute, paint is in reasonably good condition, has a few light scratches and a bit of road grime on the front bar and behind the front wheels. I do get pretty heavy swirl marks after ive washed the things and that sh*ts me royal. Any advive on polishing/waxing, and wat products to use in wat order would be greatly appreciated.ButtoMaybe shoulda wrote this as a PM Link to comment https://www.fordxr6turbo.com/forum/topic/44596-wax-vs-polish/page/5/#findComment-712098 Share on other sites

Dream Machines Member 54 Member For: 18y 10m 15d Posted 01/08/08 10:18 PM Share Posted 01/08/08 10:18 PM I've got nothing against fillers, albeit the new generation which last for a few months and up to six months or moreYou would be surprised at the amount of rubbish that is in your paint even after claying and dewaxingLately I have been redoing my car using A new type of clay bar from england that only needs water as a lubricantUsed Glare Zero to bury some of the orange peel and clean the paintMicro Finish on top to fill in more marks and bring up a fantastic shineThen the new Advanced paint sealant for even more shine and insane slickness and protectionI still prefer to go the abrasive route with customers vehicles for a few applications but with our cars, once we've used abrasives once or twice, we switch to the long term fillersThey won't wash out quicklyMy latest gear is from England but made elsewhereA new nanotech polish that does not fill, removes 500 to 3000 grit scratches without any fillers, oils, wax or siliconeRemoves far less paint than even menzerna powergloss would with the same padAlso a crystalline laquer paint, trim, plastic and falcon tonneau cover permanent sealantIt's 700 euros per 500ml but bugger all is needed. It bonds with and cures to the surface in seconds and can either be buffed off for no added shine or left on for even more shineWill take some pics of the test car shortly Link to comment https://www.fordxr6turbo.com/forum/topic/44596-wax-vs-polish/page/5/#findComment-713421 Share on other sites
