April 7, 200818 yr #11 I complained to ford about noisy valve springs and they replaced the idler pulley instead, car had under 40K on it.
April 7, 200818 yr #13 Of course it did .... well for them it did anyway as I gave up trying. The guy was so sure that valve springs in turbos don't fail, it only happens to XR8s. I must have gone crazy and started hearing things.
April 7, 200818 yr #15 They are generally OK to fix small things, but not with more expensive/time consuming claims by the looks of it, but then again the valves were not noisy all the time so I sort of understand why they wouldn't fix it as maybe they didn't hear anything. But in that case they shouldn't try and feed you some bullsh*t like... it was your idler pulley or you didn't have enough oil or BA turbo valve springs are bulletproof.
April 11, 200818 yr #17 Author They replaced the pully for free (under warranty) but.... Charged me 50 bucks to qoute "unblock my windscreen washer bottle filter"!!!!!WTF... Apparently if you dont use your washers they grow fungie in the bottle & block up the filter & you then cant wash the window!!!!Worst of all its not covered under warranty!!!! How could this ever be my fault?? Clearly its a ford design problem.RegardsTUFXRT6
May 6, 200818 yr #19 what kind of a noisde does this make when ts on its way out???A rattly rumble from the front end - some people who dont know their cars might not notice it. Mine started towards the end of a melb-coffs harbour-mel trip at around 80k from memory on a BA T. The only thing replaced under a very expensive extended warranty.
October 17, 201213 yr #20 Just noticed mine noisey this afternoon. Been wondering what the noise was. It's most noisey when the car is in D or some kind of load even at a stand still. I put it in N and had a listen and yeap sure enough it was the pulley. I'll try source a metal one and replace it. Looks to be dead easy to do yourself.
