Possible Rust Problem Area

Especially the ones that have had their BA for a little while now. OK, you have seen me raise the subject about the surface rust in the door seem, pfffft. nothing really it's fixed now.

I'm really worried about one particular part.

Next time you wash your car, have a look at the rubber seal on the frame of your car where the front and rear doors meet. (Apparently it's there to help reduce noise...Whatever, anyway). After rain or washing your car. Have you noticed that it holds a HELL of a lot of water and it's a real b**ch to keep dry? Water seeps underneath and it's damn hard to soak it all up. I'm about to ask Ford the question as I'm a little worried about it as it looks like a potential cancer spot. Thinking of ripping it off all together.

I'm just wondering if anyone is experiencing the same thing and if it's something to really worry about.

I am more concerned about the area at the base of the rear windscreen when u open up the boot. in between the rubber and the edge of the qtr panel. More water in there than Scrivener dam!

I've noticed after washing the car, if I open the rear doors a lot of water comes out from the bottom of both the doors...

Yep, I do that as well, doors flung wide open the moment I back it into the driveway after washing. In fact I'll quickly run around the block and then reverse and drive back into my driveway to splash out any excessive water build up. (Also to dry the brake rotors).

Read a comment from Goose, NO that is not compulsive, I have always opened the boot to dry everywhere, every 3rd wash I'll check under the bonnet as well.

Yet there is still water build up on both sides and it's damn hard to get to, reason why I raised the question. in the first place.

The red line represents where water can build up and it's usually wiped off without too much hassle, the arrows, especially the arrow on the left points to the real problem, it's not clearly marked as the rubber that has the build up that's hard to get to goes off the left of the image but it's the only pic I have of the scuff plate area at present.

Glad to see I'm not the only one who checks for pooling areas, drives around the block, uses the vac/blower etc;. Yeah, have noticed a bit there and around the boot, but, I had a similar prob with my beloved EL XR6 and after 4 years not a sign of 'cancer' but still needs careful watching.

Compared to my old XC these cars are near genetically modified 'cancer free', unless you live right on the coast, and if your that rich.....sob! :D

Ahh, the old XC. Yep, piece of 'swiss cheese' was it? Loved it to death but man, talk about cancer.

So im not the only anal retentive cleaner here! I noticed heaps of places water pools. Basically everywhere theres a rubber seal. I always wipe the inside of my doors boot and clean the donk whenever I clean the car. Not as bad as the guy who preped my car for sale though. He polished the inside of my doors and the pillers.
