Thinking about options for the back of my Ute, was going to build a cover and boxes, but figure if someone has done it better than you... why bother.

Anyone had any experience lately with this Mob? Anyone know any pricing? I would imagine they are going to be cheaper than the OEM product, painted they go for over 2g right?? Plus I like the really flat look, not a fan of the massive bulge in the BF top.

The one I have on my ute is a aluminium roller shutter which is better for me because it rolls completely open rather than the fibreglass flip up type which only seem to open partly up. Looks neat and has a flat profile. On weekends when open can fit me and my young blokes trailbikes. Mine is powdercoat black. Have had it for three years and still works and looks like new. Never taken a decent photo of it yet. will take one tomorow and post tomorow night.

Anyway have a look on their web site for ideas etc if interested. Not sure of their locations in other states however. (blueys ute world)

I have had the roller door from Bluey's for 3 years as well and never had a problem with it. I carry ladders though so the roller door is great as I can access the ute where as with the lift top I could only just get it open

How do the rollers look? Ive seen the pics on the site, but they are not very good quality. Do the lids blend in well? I like the smooth clean look of the lazerbacks.

Hey that's not bad... Nice and waterproof? What did that set you back? Self install? On the ego finish and black surround of tub it should blend in nicely. Is that a BF? Also can you just buy the coded plugs to fill the holes left by the tie down points?

I guess I'm tossing up between roller and hard lid, cost being a big factor as the roller styles are quite a bit more, in saying that they are ALOT more practical, even if they are not as flash looking.

Hi Felix.

I have a lazerback lid on my ute, and found it is a very good quality product, I quite like the flat look that it gives.

it has 3 locking points instead of the two that the factory lid has, and it is also waterproof, I've never had a drop of water in mine.

you can purchase the grommits from ford that replace the tie down lugs for the soft top, they are around $3 each from ford and you need 20 of them to do a whole tub (cost me $58 plus painting), I have a set of twenty here that are painted in silhouette if you are interested drop me a pm.

I didnt use them as I had the tub shaved on my ute.

Any pics? Did you do the install yourself? How far does it open in comparison to the OEM lids? Is this on a BF, as in is it compatible with the OEM tub liner?

Regarding the grommets, how do you paint them?

I'll have a look to see if I have pics, it opens about the same as the oem lid.

a mate and I installed it (I mostly supervised lol)

its on a BA MKii

works with the oem tubliner, mounts pretty much the same as a factory job

I got the grommits painted by a panel shop
