Ford recently put a new ECU in my XR6T as there was a fault with the original computer. Prior to that the turbo blow off valve made a distinct sneeze coming off high revs. It no longer does this. Has anyone else exprienced this or explain what might have changed?

you could've been running higher boost - a common problem in older vehicles - and now it is back to 5.5-6psi.

When you up the boost on these cars it tends to make the BOV noise louder.

Do you have a boost gauge fitted to your car? Can you notice a difference in performance?

Sneezing hey? Are you running the stock BOV? if so it shouldnt sneeze unless your venting to atmosphere, which isnt a stock setup. If you are relatively stock its possible that you had a break in your rubber seals on the crossover and they replaced it. The sound you could of been hearing is the air escaping from the open wastegate and out the broken seal?

At high revs, when you back off suddenly, do you get a TU TU TU TU sound?

Yes it does make that nid of noise. Is that normal? I forgor to mention it has been flash/dyno tuned so is over 280kw.

The sound is normal, but it if Ford has replaced the ECU or flashed a new ECU update it would have wiped your Edit tune.

It should say so on the invoice from Ford. This may be why the noise has changed as you are now running stock boost.

Guys a reflash is one thing, but a pshhhht and a TU TU TU TU are two completely different setups and a custom tune is not going to change that? If anything the sound is more obvious, but it doesnt change...

So why would the sound change? The guys who did the performance tune say it is performing fine and the mechanic at Ford said he had never noticed the Phsssst sound in an XR6T. Odd although mine is a 6 speed manual and he may have only encountered autos.
