gday

ive got an xbox 360, and a big toshiba rear pro TV, it has the hi definition (seperate colours) inputs for the video, however when I plug it in that way, flick the switch on the cable, no matter which setting I try on the xbox, I get no video.

I thought perhaps its because my TV doesnt support Hi - definition, until my mum bought a brand new hitachi 42" LCD with 1080i or whatever the highest one is and the same problem on that one.

anybody else had issues like this? im just using the standard cable, is there something really easy im missing?

also on another note, bought a nintendo wii the other day, friggin great fun, bit pissed off that wii sports cant be played online though.

I have my xbox hooked up via VGA cable to my 1080p LCD nowdays but from memory there are 2 swithes on the component cable from the xbox to the tv, one is the switch for stanard or high def and the other is component or svideo I think.

If the second switch is set wrong it won't show a picture. One switch is right on top of the plug where it plugs into the xbox and the other is in line a few inches down.

nah you havnt got the standard cable, this one only has one switch, TV > HDTV that's all, I checked. standard cable doesnt have an svideo plug on it.

and this isnt only 1 console im having trouble with, ive had 2 previous ones both which went faulty due to an unrelated problem and got replaced, and my brother is on his 2nd console also. Same problem on every console.

I was pretty shocked when my xbox 360 would only display at 420p on my new 50 inch high def tv... you have to go into xbox display settings, and then select which hi def you want. Depending on your tv, 720p and 1080i should be available through the component cables. Not sure if 1080p will work, but it'll let you know if it doesn't!

got a link for the specs of your tv?

it should be able to accept the standard 720p.. some crt's will only take 1080i.

pity you are not close to me, I'd lend you my cable to see if that helps, because I'd say that is the problem.
