just a few Q's I hope any of u can answer, ive searched but didn't find wat I was looking for...

1. do XR6T ex chaser's have a police pack code on the I.d plate like holdens do?

2. do victoria police use XR6T's or even F6's, and if so, wat colour do they usually use ? (im assuming white)

3. wat other extras have they got apart from premium brakes?

thanks

Welcome to the forum. A mate of mine has a XR8 which was a cop car. So going by that I'll say...

1. No.

2. Only 8's I think. White would be the most common.

3. None.

Some of the plug in wiring harness for the police gear was still in the engine bay so it was a dead give away. They also left the police mode turned on so the indicators didn't flash and the interior light didn't come on when you locked/unlocked it and the instrument LCD displayed the speed. My dealer soon turned that off for him.

:roflmbo: In Victoria I dont believe they use XR6T's as chasers. I know for a fact that in some of the other states they use typhoons as highway patrol vehicles, espicially in QLD, and some T's on this forum actually are ex chasers, pretty confident they arent in Vic though.

We had a discussion a couple of weeks back where Tur (a member here) looked at a XR6T write off at Fowles and when he did a background check the car was an ex chaser, but again, pretty confident it wasnt in VIC. The color of this car was citric acid (tennis ball green), so all arent white. The F6's in QLD are RED with highway patrol written all over them, I could be wrong but it varies from state to state.

Hope this helps.

Matty.

there is a bf xr6t chaser that I have seen several times around springvale, and I beleive Knox TMU have had unmarked xr6t's...

One of the reasons there arent a lot of xr6t chasers in vic is because of demand for them from the public, I remember when BAs first came out vic police wanted a bunch of turbos but due to demand Ford offered them premium brakes free of charge if they bought XR8s... my work sold a bunch of white BA xr8s to the vic police at the time.....

Also why the obsession with ex-cop cars? its all wank factor if u ask me

the days of when the police had a little extra kW's or something no longer exist.. so why people want to buy an old bashed/trashed police car I don't know? I mean sure if u can pick it up for well nice cheap price sure I prob look into one also but would have to be alot cheaper..

excactly, the "cop chip" days are gone...... and I service alot of cop cars at work, theres no way I would spend my cash on one that's for sure....

Victoria do have XR6T's. TMU have marked XRT's obviously in white, and there are other unmarked XRT's driven by both special squads and by officers as company cars.. these are in every colour, there is a local citric that I know of.

ive worked on a unmarked xrt at work and there is no way I would buy a ex cop car. its in at work all the time being repaired. they have a rough life that's for sure

They a probably not fully sik street weapons like the BT1's, I'd feel safer buying an ex taxi.
