The two guages that would be really good to have in a twin pod... Eboost and a Wide Band AFR meter.

But for normal usuage, a good accurate boost guage and oil temp... an oil presure guage is great to have but you have an idiot light on the dash anyway, if pressure drops there's something seriously wrong and it will go wrong very fast, so a light is enough to make you switch it off and tow it home.

I have the AVO pillar mount pod. It actually sits on the dash and is moulded to the shape of the pillar and dash. It looks quite good IMHO, is different to what everyone else has, and is mounted to the side that you generally look out.

The guage is a 40 dollar special from e-bay and it's actually friggin good! Lights up clear, easy to read, has a stepper motor and is genuine autoguage.

Boost is good, gives you an idea of what is going on, I would like to know that if I boot it on a stinking hot day up here in Brisbane what is going on, would also like to know what is going on when I am having a spirited drive through the snowy mountains.

So much hype on oil products these days, that how are you going to know what oils work well in all conditions, a good indication is a stable and constant oil pressure, need a good oil pressure guage for that.

Oil temps, well they vary from engine temps, so hey one of them could be handy, this may lead to an oil cooler it may not. Knowledge is power mate. I am not flaming you as you are entitled to your opinion, I just happen to dissagree.

Mate,

I just got hold of the Tripod guage pod and the xforce guages and they are sweet. Excellent quality and really well designed. Looks like it will be a snap to install.

If you want my 2c, I rekon the more info you can have the better. Why wouldnt you want to know about your boost pressure or oil pressure? Certainly cant see why it would be a DISSADVANTAGE to have that info at your disposal. I went with Boost (so I can see if what my boost is doing when I do any mods), Oil temp (much more reliable way of knowing when your engine has warmed up before you thrash it then water temp) and oil pressure (well... self explanatory really, but I would like to know if things to bad). I believe the Xforce guages have a warning level you can set, so you would probably notice your oil pressure dropping to hell if you set it up right...

I guess its up to you, but for the record I'm pretty happy with the setup I got.

With all this information on hand, what is it like getting the wiring to the guages?

I have never purchased guages like this so I am wondering, if you buy them from ebay or something, are they easy to hook up.

Hopefully over the weekend, I will put up some picts of my ride.

Doolz from the reserch I have done with Ozegauges (click on Instructions & Technical) they give you a step by step break down of what to do.

Would like to get some feedback by those who have installed them.

Ozzie
