Guest Guests Posted 08/11/07 12:19 PM Share Posted 08/11/07 12:19 PM Doubt it would be insurance, because if they needed the money they could of sold it quite easily. Sounds more like the thiefs want to re-shell it or they had a buyer lined up... but to leave a ferrari and a rolls is a bit silly Link to comment https://www.fordxr6turbo.com/forum/topic/39612-stolen-rare-600000-1971-phase-iii-gtho/page/2/#findComment-593688 Share on other sites

Guest Guests Posted 08/11/07 12:26 PM Share Posted 08/11/07 12:26 PM Haven't had experience with insurance fraud so I wasn't aware he'd keep the car also... I thought the guys who stole it would keep it as payment for their deeds? The type of person who own these cars probably wouldnt do that because the stakes would be way to high. 40y/o+ baby boomers who can afford a 600K car as their toy would have to be doing extremely well for themselves. Would it be worth the risk on a car that would attract huge scrutiny from an insurance company.IMHO, if you break into a garage in the dead of night, move a couple of rolls limos, a 100K modded monaro, a ferrari you know EXACTLY what your doing. U know where to put the cars, where to find the keys and how not to bring attention to yourself doing so. I know the area very well (work on the end of that street).Wouldnt be a car that goes to a joyrider or gets stripped iMHO. The market in Aus would be VERY limited for a stolen car like that. Clearly they attract huge attention, so you cant show it off (more people who know, higher risk), stripping and selling the parts would be too risky (again all those legit businessmen probably want NO part of stolen gear), couldnt lap it, couldnt do SFA with it. Would have to be kept very low key. Its not just a car that goes away either..Monaro would be the car you'd steal and strip. Plentry of dodgy people who would glady buy the rims / brakes / engine etc etc Edited 08/11/07 02:04 PM by Mat Link to comment https://www.fordxr6turbo.com/forum/topic/39612-stolen-rare-600000-1971-phase-iii-gtho/page/2/#findComment-593717 Share on other sites

Why steal it? It is forever marked as stolen and can't be rebirthed. It may be worth something in parts, but it would be a bit dodgy buying original GTHO parts wouldn't it?I'm sure the insurance company has a PI on the job.
