Hi guys,

I was driving today, everything fine...then approaching a set of light doing a very slow speed the car spluttered and spat and stopped like it had run out of fuel...however it has a full tank...

Anyway tried to start it and it wants to start but won't. A few times it did kick over and when it did it idled really rough for about 7 seconds then died...

Pushed it to the mechanics which was very close by and he checked under the car to see if the fuel pump was working....it was...

Anyway the mechanic is busy for a bit but thought someone out there might have an idea?????

Thanks guys....

I had a new fuel filter installed 3 weeks ago.

It cut out 30 seconds after filling up with BP ultimate and nulon octane boost. However the car had nearly half a tank of petrol before I topped it up anyway...don't think it would be the fuel 'cus it's from a big BP centre.....

could just be coincidence I would think????

Depending on the state of the motors tune, occy booster can gum up and foul the plugs.

I run a bit of booster now and then and the plugs are always red... so I clean/change them often.

Hopefully that's all it is for you

:spoton: octane booster and 98 octane fuel is a bit of overkill don't you think? is the car specifically tuned for that? if not, don't waste your money, the advantages are minimal anyway

My car had fuel contamination a while back and that was filled up also at a BP Centre, (Utimate 98 ron)..

No matter how big a Petrol cenre is, theres always a chance for it to get contaminated.

I hope your's isn't the case. I've learnt my lesson and have been keeping my receipts eversince :spoton:

All the best mate,

San.

Hi guys ok problem is sorted and the T lives another day.

A guy was called with a diagnostic computer to come look at the car...anyway he hooked up his machine and there were heaps of fault codes......

He cleared them fresh (took 2 minutes) and turned the key. What do you know but the car starts straight away and is back to normal.........it's got me stumped....could have had something to do with the octane booster????? I just don't know.......but would appreciate any guesses.....

thanks for all your help....it's a real bugger when something goes wrong....
