Un-modded cars are doing it as well.I did mine 3 times and the last time I fitted Caterpillar Hardened Washers under the bolt heads plus Lots of thread lock and its been fine since >>> Touch Wood!!!It makes a scary noise and sounds like a Piston is about to jump out the side of the block. I drove mine 30km back to my workshop once without any dramas but took it very steady. teeg Member 372 Member For: 19y 10m 18d Location: SA Posted 02/10/07 11:04 PM Share Posted 02/10/07 11:04 PM does this affect autos only??when idling in neutral in the 6spd manual I have a very noticable rattle that goes with the gearbox.. is it an easy fix? What you have is roll over noise. With the gearbox in neutral, and the clutch out, there is no pressure against the cogs and they vibrate, or something like that. You will notice once you put the clutch in it disappears. I had it checked by ford and it was within spec and Mal Wood even said in a post that they all do it. Transmax did quieten it a little, but the transmax did wonders for the shift quality once warmed up. I have filled with tranzmax and its much better shifting once warm and is a little quieter I must admit....oh well..as long as its "within spec" rofl..
