As far as I know ford will not touch the ZF, they will source a stock unit from ZF aust.

took me ute into tuners due to me trans would not up shift into fourth when you floor it and when in fourth you floor it and it down shifts back to 3rd and gos to the limiter in sports mode even if you pull the shifter it wont go up so I have been told the clutches are slipping so out she comes and off to ford tec to see if they can beef it up. I have been told got told the shifts will be faster but harder .ol mate has a mate there interested in strenghting the zf so I just have to trust the trans bloke and see if its any good and in 3 weeks we will know .good or sh#t

had 395rwkw with aps phase2 kit now in getting more hoping to make about 410rwkw with new inlet manifold and bigger cooler so I hope this bloke can fix the problems 4 I dont want to go back to the 6 speed gearbox and if things go good I will let you know how the tranny holds up

My 4sp has survived 7 runs down the quarter and a bit of hard punishment on the street (just a little) The box feels as strong as the day it was put in.

1st run with the new rebuild and stallie led to the 10.8s pass with about 375 rwkw and a mountain of torque.

There is plenty that can be done to strengthen and improve these boxes.

8 runs down the quarter is hardly a going to test a strong box. That adds up to 2.4kms at full throttle with a little bit extra for burnouts. Less than what a lot of people would do in a week I would've thought? A box can feel as strong as the day it was put in until the second it breaks.

So what exactly does the "plenty" entail to make them stronger? From what I've heard, there's not much you can do apart from kevlar bands, a coupla extra clutches, valve body mod, AU planetries and edit. They're just not made to handle 700+ nm of torque for too long, even with those mods.

I reckon a 3 speed C9 or similar with a gear vendors over/under drive (giving you 6 speeds including one overdrive) would be the go. 8k ought to do it!
