Hi All,

Just wondering what could be causing the following issue?

Ive had my car tuned and the spark plugs replaced - since the tune though, sometimes my car will drop below 500rpm when slowing down then kick itself in the guts and take it up to 1000rpm, then back down to 500rpm and so on and so on until the car is standing still.

Some days it doesnt do it at all.. Im just wondering if this could be a spark plug issue?

The other query I have is in regards to valve springs.. How do I know when these are being pushed harder than they should?

The car seems to struggle once it gets to around 4k rpm onwards, almost like it plateau's...

Its a 6 speed manual if that will help.

Thanks for any info you may have.

Bain

no help but I had the same idle problem with the capa generic 10psi. sometimes uneven, other times ok. I am using the 8psi now and it has no problems so im guessing its a tune related problem.

was yours a custom tune?

Yeah, mine was a custom tune.

I have returned the car to stock and it still happens, which I guess is pointing to the spark plags being gapped to much? or arent all the same..

I have the same problem mate, the revs bounce up and down between 500 and 1200rpm when slowing down and then usually level out once at rest. I originally thought it was the TPS so I had that changed which did help but the car still continues to do it, the only thing left which I can think of is that the valve springs are on their way out...... :3gears:

Ill keep a close eye on this thread

Cheers

Throttlebody is clean as a whistle :) I cleaned that out thinking the butterfly was getting stuck.

I'll be sticking the stock tune for the car back in and replacing the spark plugs to see if this is the cause. (90% sure it is)

Ill reply here at the end of next week with what I find.
