Changing Engine Oils

Featured Replies

I would just like a little advice in changing my engine oil from what every ford put in (I know it's not full synthetic) to a full synthetic (Nulon 15W-50)

Should you flush the engine before replacing with a full Synthetic??

If so what should I use? Opions??

You should not have to flush out the block only a small amount of the original oil should be left.

I have used Nulon 10w-40, close to ford viscosity specs

and am now using Castrol Edge 0w-40, FPV spec.

which is better Myself I cant tell, would have to get an engineer to answer that one.

I've just previously used the LPG oil from ford in mine, the techs say its good for a stock motor, since rebuilding the engine I'm using edge like 72, but I think I might try Motul 4100 turbolite, its cheaper than edge and supposed to be good for new engines

I too am using Castrol Edge though I'm using 10w-60. Best oil I have used so far :spoton:

Haven't had the car seviced at a dealership yet. Does anybody know what brand and grade the oil is? And do they have any options?

Last time I serviced it with Ford they used valvoline 15w-40. When I bought the oil over the counter first time I changed it, they gave me Ford LPG 15w-40 oil. I think they just use whatever.

Like most workshops, they have a big drum of cheap oil out the back and they shove it in no mater what the engine specs.

I always take my own oil when I get the car serviced.
