I have easy way to test for exhaust leaks.

If you drive your car, off a short pier, then watch for the air bubbles, and they will tell you where it's leaking from.:spoton::nod:

ahhhh oooook................to update my situation I found the fallen out bolt from the turbo which amazinly got caught in just a way as not to fall on to the ground I replaced it checked every exhaust bolts put it back together and alls good,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,BUT,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,the phantoms ive been having with my edit such as random pinging, yes it comes and goes, and less than reliable performance have all but dissapeared ,other than noticeable fuel starvation on high boost, which is about to be rectified with injectors and fuel pump.also gone is the turbo flutter that occcured after backing off, which was the leaking exhaust gases, now its more of a strong huffing sound, it actually sounds allright.so folks listen to your car!,that cool noise the car makes, might be the start of something more sinister.but in my case luckily it wasnt alll that bad..what do you think?

That is exactly what mine started doing. My bolt even fell out onto the turbo too right near the oil line and stayed there all the way home, just like yours! I just check em most weekends while I shine her up. It makes it idle weird, ping, all sorts of random stuff. Guy at work here had it too so I think its a bit common.

whats the easiest way to check the turbo bolts?

from under the car? I guess the heatshield has to come off?

I can see mine from the top, but you have to have little spanners and a cold motor helps to check them. Mine is always the same bolt luckily its the easiest to reach!

Anybody know what torque the exhaust bolts should be if tightening yourself with a torque wrench or do you just tighten with eg.breaker bar till tight enough???
