Weird Miss Under Load!

Featured Replies

Hi Guys,

I've seen heaps of posts around hear of strange misses and splutters. But am having no luck with my own!

So my car has a weird miss only under load. Wide open throttle from low down shes sweet. But if I'm in a higher gear and give it some it gets to a certain point where it misses massively. It's like it's hitting a rev limit. My tuner thinks its electrical...but no luck sorting it out yet.

I'm pretty certain it's not a problem with the tune.

It's not sparkplugs.

It's not coils.

What else could it be?

So you've bought new coils? Or just tested them?

Ive found a few scorch marks on the coils wires/rocker cover on mine

I have the same problem and it’s not the tune because my car does it on factory tune as well my car seems to only do it every few days then maybe 3 days in row then fine for 3 days seems to be worse when still warming up I’ve taken it to ford but it was fine on the day then f*cked the next so they couldn’t find any problems I’m going to take it back into them next week I hope this time it will be doing it on the day seems a few people have been having this problem of late has anybody figured out what it was so far because its really starting to piss me off :aaggl:

Try replacing the oxygen sensor it's a long shot but might work. I had this problem in my car. Also do any dash lights illuminate under WOT?

Cheers Alf.

No no dash lights or fault codes.

My tuner has tried several different tunes and does it with all of them!

He's stumped and so am I...

I'll mention the oxygen sensor!

Faulty oxygen sensor would set of the engine warning lamp wouldn't it? :idunno:

Have you checked the fuel filter?

sorry and in my first post when I said low down shes fine, what I meant was if you give it a squirt from a stand still shes sweet but if it's loaded up cruising in a higher gears that's when it does it.

Yeah I've told my tuner to check all the little things like filters etc and since hes had the car for five weeks hes checked it all.

I even thought it may be a throttle position sensor?
