Hi guys,

I am getting a mk 1 ba and it has premium sound already.

What I would like to know is how do I get sat nav to work through the colour screen? What are my options here? If I am using the sat nav through the screen can I still listen to a cd??

Also I would like a handsfree mobile phone thingymajigy... I have a sony ericsson that has bluetooth and all the bits and pieces but not sure of the best way to go about making it handsfree.

Can the sat nav and phone be connected through the premium sound??

I have done some searches but haven't found any info. I'm not interested in reverse cameras or ipods or mp3s etc...just the sat nav and phone....

Thanks guys...appreciate it...

Check out VDO for the sat nav (or Autobahn) and you can get a genuine bluetooth kit through your ford dealer, easy to fit, costs $500 fitted

  • Just sit back and enjoy the ride...!

Integrating a phone kit with the Ford ICC is fairly easy to do. Here's the Aaron's HowTo doc on wiring it in...

AFAIK - if you are using a car SatNav, then the ICC is using it's A/V input mode. No CD's, radio or other stuff.

As Lord Cyric posted the handsfree is a piece of piss to install. If you don't want the cradle (therefore use bluetooth) it can be done in no time.

I'd personally suggest you forget the Ford unit - I used the Nokia Bluetooth Handsfree unit (at a fraction of the cost) and have had no problems at all (using a similar method to the before mentioned attachment).

As for the SatNav - I've actually never used the ford unit. Wouldn't the overlays still be functional for all the HVAC controls (no CD though)? Mine are with the DVD installed - considering its using the SatNav inputs??

you can still use the cd player because the Sat Nav dvd drive is in the boot on the drivers side, the VDO system uses the same spot, again I'm notsure if there are other options similar to this but its pretty good

I have a bluetooth carkit with GPS. It is a Parrot 3400GPS installed just below the start button and cost me $420 delivered from eBay.

Using a Windows Mobile 6 phone (HTC Hermes) with Tom Tom 6, I have a complete setup for the car, I even have Yoda as the voice for directions:

This is the phone:
