04/08/07 12:22 AM04/08/07 12:22 AM #1 how would the stock 4 speed hold up with around 250rwk???it wont be driven insanely hard no drag pass's or anything like that what can be done to the box's to prevent deystroying it
04/08/07 12:41 AM04/08/07 12:41 AM #2 250 rwkw you should be fine, provided you get the shifts firmed up.This can be done by the tuner if you get a custom Edit tune.Should the box start slippijng, they are not expensive to rebuild, if you are only replacing worn bands and clutches.
04/08/07 01:04 AM04/08/07 01:04 AM #3 Author I will be getting it custom tunedhow long would they generally last before slipping
04/08/07 01:25 AM04/08/07 01:25 AM #4 hey mate hard to say when your box will fail as we dont know how u drive hard or easy??ive got no mods on my auto done yet but just recently fitted a trans cooler which I hope will help it last abit longer and ive been out the drags 3 times now so ive havent noticed any problems yet (touch wood!!!!). Its luck of the boxs really..... oh and the car has just clocked over 60,000kms and my tuner has also frimed up my shifts too. I recommend getting a cooler first as they are a fairly cheap mod to start with. cheers Ryan Edited 04/08/07 01:29 AM04/08/07 01:29 AM by sleeper69
04/08/07 06:48 AM04/08/07 06:48 AM #5 Author im going to get my exhaust and cold air intake done firstthen I might save and get the box streangthned before bothering with extra b00st
04/08/07 06:55 AM04/08/07 06:55 AM #6 are you gonna bother getting a edit??there no point putting an exhasut system and CAI in if your just gonna get into limp mode 24/7its worth more getting just the edit and custom tunetrust me its more noticable differnce and you wont regret it.
04/08/07 07:45 AM04/08/07 07:45 AM #8 oh ok didnt no what he ment by not bothering with getting extra boost yet.
04/08/07 08:04 AM04/08/07 08:04 AM #9 Author the local tuner is awaiting new software which allow him to tune it better himself.he reckons the exhaust and cold air will make an extra 40hp and he's a VERY reputable tuner in the newcastle area does a lot of work on the local Late model camira club cars 500+HPand I want to wait until I have gearbox work before getting the tune as any decent power will just deystroy it Edited 04/08/07 08:13 AM04/08/07 08:13 AM by Adam
