These are ones with the hoses running to them. The current hole is about 3mm; I’m taking it out to about 5mm. This will let more coolant in to aid the cooling of the turbo. Very basic mod and should help a bit too. Link to comment https://www.fordxr6turbo.com/forum/topic/36758-cooling-turbo/ Share on other sites

Not sure what the thickness of the bolts are, nor the pressure running through them but hope a warranty issue doesn't ever come about. I've seen a few blokes around here that are doing the bonnet vents for cooling with impressive results. Not as quick or easy, but maybe worth it if you got high temps. You can buy the bolts with the bigger hole in it too. But I'll just do it myself. Since when is turbo ouver heating an issue with these cars anyway...? Have a read about the oil pressure supply requirements on garrett's web page. You serioulsy dont want to over pressurise the bearing housing..... There are two of them. This will be my frist change than. And with opening these holes in will allow more flow, and take heat away faster. There is nothing to be gained by doing this. There is an oil restrictor in the oil supply for a reason - the bearings do not require what the oil pump can supply and I am sure Garrett know what size the coolant holes should be. It is the air charge I would be focussing on, not the piddly little amount of coolant.
