The one on eastern vally way in middle cove also flashes both ways, but I know it does not take frontal pics.

I have set this off many many many times and never got a fine. I think they either want to scare people or it is for later use when they stick a 2nd camera in.

A few years back a flash for cash was going off at every car, so I stopped and asked the RTA bloke what the faark for. He said he was merely calibrating the device.

Long topic this going to be.

I was once told by a mate who was doing police studies/law studies or something along those lines, that the reason they only get you from behind is to avoid the possibility of someone being "stunned" or having their vision impaired by the front on flash..

If someone got flashed and their vision was impaired slightly and they had an accident, I wonder where they'd stand

I know for a fact the camera on president av at Gymea gets cars both ways cause I got done by it head on about 3 years ago...

Chris

The one at Gymea is one of the more unusual ones, how its positioned so close to the intersection. You run the traffic lights and get done by the speed camera as a result. Even drivers who turn onto President Ave, and dont realise ist schol zone times get pinged, cuz you can 40 pretty quick.

Its just all about road safety :bsflag:

What else would it be if not road safety??? Our government isn't interested in anything else but road safety, that's why our roads are covered with pot holes so we would slow down  .

Plus people die every day from driving 10 km/h over the limit :bsflag: .

Theres 1 on avoca st in randwick for a school zone at randwick girls high school. that's facing you when you go south bound.

Just 1 thing, when there is a speed camera in a school zone, does it work any other time outside school zone times? People say yes but I just dont know...

Of course it does, they enforce the variable speed limits. Just because the school zone 40Kph limit is over doesnt mean it will no longer ping you for other higher speeds.

Some of us on here have the luxury of setting them off all the time and nothing can be done about it.

I guess you don't want to elaborate on that last sentence. Or maybe I'm wrong...????
