Major Service @90000 Kmz..

hey guys,

I was just wondering if 560$. is adequate for a major service @ 90,000 kilometers...I was quoted that much by coffey ford dandenong today.. just curious

Mate, I had the same service done in January and it set me back $290. This was at my local Ford dealer. Did they tell you what was involved in the service? By memory mine was replacement of all fluids and filters.

hmmm nah they didn't silly of me not to ask anyways.....I was just wondering whether this is a mmajor service anyways...at 90ks...because replacing fluids is just a normal service isnt it?...lol I have a feeling theyr trying to mock me around but who knows..

At my last service Ultra Tune Dandenong (dont go there) Told me that the 90K service was a major one... Didnt bother to ask why as I wasnt there for that...

I had my 30000 km service done today and was told 45000km and 90000km are major ones and cost about 580 bucks each that's from city ford in sydney anyway not sure about other dealers

ahh ok....yeh I guess theyll end up replacing my belts etc (as theyr allready sounding crook) so yeh...could be that it really is a major...ill ring them up and see what theyr going to do....I think he quoted me 560...so I guess its not too bad if you said that 45/90 are major services and u got quoted 580////hmm

dont let them do any wheel alignments/rotations/balancing etc cause they'll add 50% markup on them..

IMO find a good independant mechanic and get them to do it but make sure they use genuine ford parts, you'll save a couple of hundy and keep your warranty

it pays to have the turbo bolts checked EVERY 15,000.

I lost 1 and almost the 2nd in 10,000km's last service..... I asked the mechanic what do ford reckon to use on the bolts, as in loctite or sumthing and he said "they reckon nothing"

wtf, theres gotta be something that will help!! under high temp situations like this, would the loctite get to hot and "weld" itself in making the bolts pricks to get off in future??

Seeing as Permatex High temp thread locker has a rated temp range up to 232°C, and an turbo manifold can get 'red hot' which is a temperature ranging from 500°C-1000°C approximately its pretty easy to understand why a thread locker wouldn't do jack.

yeah but surely theres some hardcore temp rated sh*t out there!?

you cant expect big mine dumpers and loaders and trucks etc to see their trusty ford dealers for a manifold tighten! lol
