I asked what had happened too the engine and the mechanic said the car had an after market intercooler fitted and as a result it over heated which blow the head gasket and then pumped water in too the cylinders casing the engine to hydraulic lock up which bent the rods and smashed a section off the block and bent some valves. No warranty because of the mod and a $13.000 bill to replace the engine.My question is do xr6t’s run hotter with a bigger front mount intercooler?could over heating cause so much damage.

Is it gold plated?It must of been a major leak for it to put that much water into a cylinder.The whole story seems a bit far fetched to me.
