does anyone know if the big wiggs from ford look at this site.

it's a pitty if they don't, cause they might learn something about how all of us fell about these loviley cars.

They were a few months ago but I'm not sure if they still do.

Anyway the problem is fixed with the new brake lathe......... :oooh:

A different way of machining the disc's on a new $10,000+whatever is going to change the structure of the material in the disc's!!

Well there you go you learn something new everyday....... :oooh:

I'm with you on this one - maybe dbasteve, you can enlighten us as to how a lathe can fix this problem...

Shudder, shudder,

ever since my journey to the speed limiter yesterday & sudden braking straight away with truck in sight my steads brakes feel cooked & real flat. Obviously to much heat applied to quickly.

Just hijacked this part of a post from another forum and it was quite interesting.

"Regarding your "WARPED" disc rotors, there is actually a permanent fix for them now.The disc's arent actually warping. The brake shudder that you are getting in your BA is caused by what is known as DTV(Disc Thickness Variation)due to excessive lateral runout. The fix is to machine the rotors so that the lateral runout is less than 40 microns(the machines being used are calibrated to 20 microns),also the anti rattle shims are replaced with a different shim that allows the disc pads to move more freely in the caliper. Will this really be a permanent fix??Only time will tell."

So I guess, only time will tell (which seems to be a common comment).

Has anyone heard anything else about the so called permanent fix? I was told by Ford customer service that the fix was a couple of weeks away.

Do they really think that another skim job will fix this problem for good?

Can one of the members with inside knowledge confirm or deny anything that has been said in the last few posts?

Close to 5000km still great on the front and about 1000km on the rear.

 Spoke too soon. was all good ( previous post )........now approaching 8000kms and starting to feel vibtartions on standard factory stoppers under hard braking , most disconcerting !

Unfortunately, I , Cruncher did not take the premium brake option.

Are U fellow T drivers experiencing similar probs with the premium gear?

The fix? Do I wait ansd see as well ?

Sorry , One more thing. The survey would perhaps generate better output if some input on brake options was icnluded to provide some context ?

Had mine in again yesterday for it's 4th set of rotors (also had 4 machinings - 33000 klms). The guys there told me the fix is still approx. 2 weeks away and not only involves a different lathe, but also, the anti-rattle clips that hold the pads on the rotors are exerting too much pressure, causing heating problems..... wouldn't take a rocket scientist to work that one out I wouldn't have thought.... but anyway the good news is that different clips for the pads in the calipers and the new lathe should rectify the problem.

Here's hoping !!!!
