Ba With Edit

I got an Edit and custom tune today. Stock, the car came up at 206kw at the rear wheels (pretty good for standard auto according to tuner). After the tune it is 226kw. I have to admit it goes pretty well and noticably quicker, but I did expect a bit more than a 20kw improvement. Given it had the edit and custom tune and has a SS inductions CAI and K&N Filter could or should I have expected more? It's tuned at 10psi for 98 RON.

stock mine came up at 170 rkws and after edit it came in at 228 rkws with Simon saying he could have gotten more but it was late, I had my 15 month old daughter with me and I wanted to go for a drive, so we left it at that. I'll be back for more anyway!!!

I don't have CAI or K&N Filter and didn't have such a great set of numbers to begin with and we've ended up with almost identical rwkws so something doesn't seem quite right.

It's still pretty damned good though isn't it?

Some of these other guys must have smiles wider than WA with the kws they're pumping out. I gotta get me some more and soon

sounds a bit low,( normaly about 240) but it is not the power at 5200rpm that gives you the big hit, but the torque at between 3000- 5000rpm, so if it feels good be happy

There are a lot of variables on the day and there will be different figures on a different dyno on a different day. For an auto it's not bad, I'm sure there is a reason it couldnt be pushed a bit further. Do you have the dyno sheets? Be interesting to see your AFRs.

yay first post

mine came up 205 rwkw stock, tis an 03 auto

got typhoon cai, k&n filter and new valve springs (stock ones were really bad aparrantly) ended up getting 253 rwkw with with boost peaking at 9 psi in midrange and dropping to 8.

Nice progressive increase too, the top end used to feel breathless like it was struggling and not pulling at all, now it just continues building stronger and stronger.

HUUUGE improvement, goes how it should have out of the factory now

I think figure is a little on the low side & I'd be asking questions but, it's probably a very conservative or "safe" tune.

As long as it goes harder/drives better & you're happy with it, then that's all that really matters. Dyno numbers are just numbers, IMHO.

Mate, there are just way too many factors/variables to be able to categorically state whether that's a good outcome or not. There are large differences from car to car, dyno to dyno and tuner to tuner. As has been said plenty of times before, it's not about the final peak power figure, it's much more to do with the area under the power/torque curves, the way the car drives, etc, etc.

Dynos, for example - my stock auto read just over 200rwkw on one and 188rwkw on another. On the one where it read 188rwkw, I had a custom tune done that raised it to 'only' 215rwkw. At the time, others were getting closer to the 240rwkw mark with edit alone.

With the mods I have now I'm running around 265rwkw, while others have hit close to the 300rwkw mark with the same sorts of mods.

It's too easy to get caught up in final numbers, just focus on a good, safe tune that delivers the power nicely. As long as you're happy with the drive, the numbers shouldn't really matter too much.
