Awesome thread.

Thanks to the OP for sharing. True Enthuiast. :D

I'm in the hunt for a second hand turbo off an xr6 with its .5 comp cover, I'll then be using the .82 garrett interngate housing that's now available and dropping it on to my RB30DET.

I have a few mates with the gt35r .7 .82 on their rb30det's so it will be very interesting how .5 comp cover picks up the low sub 3000rpm spool.

Thanks. :D

Vid Cam is always good :)

As for the other graph. The Sedan exhaust, post cat is alot better than the ute.

All things being equal, with stock exhausts, the Sedan will make more grunt as it's mufflers are more free flowing.

As for my torque curve Vs the other one, Well mine purely makes more. The only time mine dips under 600Nm is ~5400rpm. It may not be flat, but why have a flat torque curve, when you can ramp the torque ( Boost ) early to get the weight moving??

As I say, get the weight moving sooner, the car will always be quicker.. The more power/torque you have available early to do so, the better..

sorry ben, not going to be able to make it after all..

best of luck and dont forget to post yer results up!

Bringing up an old thread I know, but just had to add an image which lends itself to proving some of the thoughts aired in here incorrect. Commanding boost with the .70 cover/standard compressor wheel combo clearly isn't an impossibility.

These runs aren't indicative of the final tune, but examples of just what the turbo is capable of producing. Still more left in it, even through the ZF. Cooler was starting to become inefficient, so will report back when that has been upgraded in the next month pending availability.

interesting thread, so your able to simply switch from .50 to .70 with no mods to the turbo? apart from the intake and perhaps the mount of the actuator?

whats a .50 compressor cover worth...?

Don't we already have a .50 compressor cover? I think you want a price on the .70 cover 'thomasmurray1' :buttonit:

nah mines got a .70 front brought it off here about 2 years ago for my vn v6, thought maybe that a smaller front cover maybe of some use to me considering iv got less displacement to start with and doesnt really see full boost to about 3200-3500rpm.

with the stage 3 cooler and a 7000rpm limit, do u think it would still make power at 7k ? what does the front cover look like, does it have an intake section around the outside of the comp wheel ?
