Magic Cat Installation Pics?

Featured Replies

Hi there,

I have a Territory Ghia Turbo and want to, amongst other stuff, replace cat with nothing or maybe a 4" Magic cat. Does anyone have any pics of this installation as part of the stock exhaust I can have a look at?

Thing is, I want to keep the exhaust looking stock with the new cat as much as possible.

You cant legally get away with no cat unless your in NZ. The Terry might not like the swim.

I know it's illegal, I wasn't born yesterday.

Any half decent exhaust shop will put a better cat in for you. All they have to do is cut the stock one out, make up some reducer pipes and weld it all in... an hours work if they dont faff around too much... it'll make a good improvment too

Thanks.

So does anyone have any opinions on overboosting when no cat in place?

I had a Skyline for 6 years eventually running 300rwkW and it did not have a cat for 5 of those years. Is this site monitored by cops or EPA and hence no one says they have no cat?

I don't know about "monitored" but there are police among the active members of the forum. Don't think this is the reason you don't see people removing their cats though, plenty of people talk about "punched cats" - hope the RSPCA don't find out! :spoton:

If a cop or EPA looks at your exhaust under the car it would be pretty easy for them to tell that it has no cat, whereas with a punched cat they wouldn't really know until they hook up all their gadgets to it to measure the pollution.

IMO just spend the money and buy a good quality cat. Very minimal flow differences between having one and not.

You may run into problems with the replacement cat on the turbo terri unless you have edit to adjust the computor.

The turbo terri and the bf's are very sensitive in this area it is to do with meeting euro 3 emission laws.

So has anyone experienced overboosting with no cat or very high flow cat? If so what boost?

How are things progressing with your TTG?

On our TTG, have so way fitted C&V's CAI and am now looking at upgrading cat and dump pipe.

Have you done this yet and are there any issuses with check lights on the dash etc?

cheers!
