Squeeling Noise

Featured Replies

Does this squeeling noise from front brakes ever stop. My car dealer recently has put in new brake pads, since then the noise has never stopped. I have taken the my XR6 to them afew times but I cant see any diff. It is so annoying. The dealer has told me to give it another 300km and if it still makes the noise then they wil upgrade it to performance pads.

Does anyone has any better options.

If you have the performance brake option, you are out of luck. I changed to Bendix ultimates and it gave me about 6,000km before they started squeeling. The pads that Ford supplied started squeeling after about 1,000km.

One fix it to hose the disks when you wash the car to remove the excess brake dust.

You could also try some antisqueel compound on the back of the pads, this can also quiten it down.

My Brembos have just started squeeling after 10,000km of silent driving

Giving the pads a bit of a sand to roughen them up and get rid of any heat glazing on the surface of the pads can help. Give the disks a light rub as well to get rid of any built up pad compound glazed onto the disk surfaces as well.

It's a temporary fix, but in other cars I've had it has given a bit of releif.
