14/05/03 12:25 PM14/05/03 12:25 PM #13 Author Mr Walker,I wouldn't agree with the comment "Subaru let a culture exist that was pro modification", in the sense that a modified vehicle WILL be knocked back for warranty claims by Subaru. I say this because I've tried to claim for things such as an AFM, and it be rejected because of mods. Ford will no doubt apply the same policy. I don't now see Ford criticising companies such a APS & AVO for modifying vehicles, so does that mean that are going to let a pro modification culture exist.... of course they are because it's good for business. Even now I'd suggest the Ford aftermarket will be bigger than the Subaru.Personally, I don't care what XR8 or GT V8 owners think or feel about being left behind by a turbo, and I doubt that they care too much about how much I've spent. I've owned 5 V8's and 8 turbos, so I feel I can be objective; at the end of the day turbos are just too addictive.... and they will be modified. What APS and AVO have done is just stage 1. When they get to stage 3, then those V8's may really be pissed off.Brian p.s thank you for saying sorry
14/05/03 01:16 PM14/05/03 01:16 PM #14 Mr Walker,Agree with your comments wholeheartedly. Warranty is to protect the manufacturer more so than the purchaser, however if you can PROVE no modification related failure, then Mr Fels will back you. Proving is EXPENSIVE, so modify at your own risk.I have spoken to a few V8 punters and it appears that most have a requirement for 8 cylinders in a vee configuration rather than the performance, consequently don't classify anything less as "serious" competition.I've got two sixes and a 12, so that equals 3 8's anyway
14/05/03 02:18 PM14/05/03 02:18 PM #15 I think another thing is that poor mods reflect on Ford and damages their reputation, even though Ford may have had nothing to do with them. Therefore, they just don't want it happening, fullstop.
