my bro does exactly what you described, if u want I will ask him what ever question you want, he is 7 on 7 off 7 nights then 7 days, he had loader tickets etc and just compleated 3 other tickets in bris (excavator, dozer and scraper) and has just been put on full time.

Yeah mate bloody oath I am interested, maybe we could hook up for a beer sometime and pick his brain, gotta be worth a couple of shouts.

he lives in rocky, so he drives 2 hrs out to the mine. Im not convinced that a 6 figure pay packet is enough to live in rocky though.

I've never heard of this FIFO. Whats the deal with it?

You fly in to some very isolated joint, typically a mine, work for two weeks straight, then fly 'home' again for two weeks off...repeat.

Guys. This might sound stupid, but do you get paid for the two weeks 'off' as well, or is it just the fact that the two weeks on makes up for it?

it would be apart of your salary package. so effetively, yes, you'd get paid for it. Also normally with jobs like this, you might get a large amount of paid annual leave.

example, with ST John in the NT, we work a 4day on/ 4day off, 10 weeks annual leave, which still equates to the 50+odd-k a year. Its all paid for baby! even more so working on a FIFO schedule!
