Unichip Upgraded To Edit

You probably won't get much more peak power with the edit, if your car has already been tuned properly with the unichip.

What you WILL get, is a heck of a lot more useable power down low.

The biggest difference I got from removing my unichip and custom tuning with the edit, was a massive increase in power below 4000 rpm.

My Unichip tune had 308 rwkw, and my retune with edit resulted in a similar peak power. But the big difference was that I had 180 rwkw at 3000 rpm with the Unichip, and 220 rwkw with hte edit at the same rpm. Having optional tunes (3 slots) also allows me to have a race tune which puts out 250 rwkw at 3000 rpm! This relates to a humungous increase in torque, and acceleration, and fun.

A much better everyday performance street car.

It also causes a hell of a lot more stress and strain on your entire driveline.

I don't know who's worked on your gearbox, (if at all) but touch base with them to get an idea of how much torque it can handle. Your tuner can make some tuning adjustments to the trans shift also, but he will need to know what has been done to the box.

My car was tuned with over 300rwkw at 3000rpm tuned soley with unichip.

Im afraid the different you notice between setups in terms of power output on the dyno would be down to the tuners capability.

Not only does putting heaps of power through the engine at low rpm stress the driveline, it also stresss the engine's rods which will see them fatique long before their normal life expectation.

if you remove the unichip you will need to remap the factory ecu using edit which will also cost. This will allow multiple maps though if you wish.

I had the gearbox strengthened about 4 months ago, I also noticed exactly what turbotom has said with the power coming on a little later with the unichip than with the edit. My car was producing 298rwks with the unichip. I am happy with the 298rwks but the thing that got me with the edit is its three tunes. Also a friend of mine has the edit and he loves it.

Hey Sam I did exactly the same thing 2 weeks ago , removed unichip and installed edit also had custom tune . Overall increase was 21rwkw but the difference is so much more than that , really does feel like a new toy with unbelievable grunt down low.

You will not regret it just make sure the tuner has experience with the capa box.

Well this is the thing lucifers xr6t I have book it in with a tuner that has some knowledge of the capa and they tune a fair few xr6t, the car is booked in for the custom tune. Cheers Sam:spoton:
