im new to these ford ecus but isnt there a protection on the ecu, when it detects engine detonation that it should retard the timing to counter act the detonation?

Yeah most cars have knock sensors but they only work on minor pinging that usually wouldnt even be heard... If you can hear pinging then its really really serious as most light pinging isnt even loud enough to hear

Thanks to all for your rapid responses. I'm contacting the tuner to get this issue resolved.

Until then I'm not taking this beast over 3000 revs may have to put the valet mode.  :spit:

Just dont floor it... its when the motors under load that its detonating... id say its fine if you just cruise around normally for the time being

Actually, the tuner may have have turned the sensitivity of the sensors down, or cahnged the ACT tables tollerances.

3,000km's and you have only just noticed it may suggest it has been quite ok untill the extra load was placed on the car..

Tuner should be able to fix it easily..

And it's pinking afik..

Just fixed my pinging problem, fuel filter.

Read my post, it's worth a try.

Pinging Gone!

Rob.

Might be a good idea now to check the screen in the pump as well. It would be worth while taking the car back the the tuner, getting them to hook a fuel pressure gauge up and observing the fuel pressure.

I'm sure intune would be more than happy to just put out 2 degrees of timing from 2500 to 4000rpm for you, that's probably all it will take, and you'll barely notice the power difference...
