I have a 04 XR6T and my front brakes rattle and feel very slightly loose..

I have been to several different ford dealers and have had the followong excuses...

1. "that's normal mate they all do it" (WRONG) I haved checked other cars some do some dont.

2. "Na mate theres not alot we can do if anything"

3. "There a floating caliper and they are supposed to do it" (1/2 right but they shouldnt rattle)

4. "Maybe a shim kit will fix it but I doubt it" (DUNNO)

5. "Oh mate its coz u took the dust guards off, that's whats done it" (WTF what a load of :spoton: they are not even connected to the brakes in any way)

6. "Its coz u got big wheels mate not standard" (WTF)

Can anyone please tell me how FORD who made these f*ckin cars can fix my problem as they have no ideas.... :stirthepot:

One dealer was close to telling me and even said it was a known issue and ford was looking into it and said to call them in a few weeks and they may know more...I rang back and they said they didnt know what I was talking about..

Im getting rather frustrated .....

Any help would be appreciated

Dave

Are the dust guards those thin bits of metal between the rim and rotors??

Im thinking of taking mine off.

Any in relation to your brake problem, if Ford dont know, then who the hell is spose to know. Try a brake specialist workshop and get there advice.

Certainly must be a terribly frustrating situation, especially when you don't get the same answers when you go to different service centres... it makes the service guys look like idiots... and we leave with no confidence in anything they say...

I don't know where you go from here, maybe to a brake specialist as stated above and then go back to Ford with their findings...

Good luck with it...

Bad news on this front champ,

I have been down this road before (also raised a thread here to no success) and have got nowhere with FORD at ALL :banghead:.

They keep telling me the brake shims are of bad design and the clips used to hold the brake pads in place, keep loosing up causing the rattle when going over a bump. I have heard this noise on some falcons but not all. I have learned to live with it. the only options I can see are to change brakes :cussing: (ie premium from ford, more bloody money)

yes I was talking to you. I asked because I had the same problem. used to drive me nuts and sounded like the front wheels were about to fall of evertime I hit anything similar to a bump.

anyway, my local delaer could not fix it and I went to another dealer and they said that they knew exactly what it was. charged me $40.00 for the fix and it is still good. only rattles over major bumps now.

my advice, yes there is a fix. but you have to go to the right dealer. I would look in the yellow pages and ring as many dealers as you can and ask if they know the problem. if they do, then they should be able to fix it.

hope this helps.
