Pods

... and a pod filter in a hot engine bay with no cold air or heatshielding is :spoton: for performance

that's what I thought as well

The only problem with this idea is that you need to build an enclosure arround the pod so you only pick up cold air from the front of the car not hot air from the engine bay. This will show its ugly head moreso in the hotter months. Or the other alternitive is a bigger intercooler lol....

On a std T it makes no difference. You would struggle to feel a 10rwkw different in a T . I flooged the crap out of my T with a pod....with normal filter......with no filter whatso even, and I honestly could not tell the difference except for the sound. If your worried about hotair and heat soat then change the cooler :pooh:

Oh a friend of mine has 500+ hp at the wheels with a pod in the engine bay with no protection.........????

Yer but I wont my car to dose like a vl ssssssss tuttutt liek that lol

Then remove your BOV... simple

The sound they make isnt a good one... its the sound you can hear feintly when you change gears, but its minimal because the BOV is venting most of it. If you didnt have the BOV it would all be putting back pressure on the turbo and making that sound you like... I prefer a bit of extended turbo life so I'll pass.

BABBOOWWW wrong in this instance. The XR is different to that of the conventional Jap design.

I was talking to a FoMoCo Tech yesterday, and he said that the excsess bosst pressure that is created when the throttle snaps shut, is dumped into the manifold to keep the turbo spinning, hence the very small if any lag that these motors have.

May I point you to this BOV. Either Simon is FOS or we have a bad connection.

I am running sans BOV and I love the faint flutter it gives with the bigger intercooler.

The next challenge is to remove the induction from above the radiator and direct the feed to the airbox from underneath the headlight, apparently there is a considerable amount of air that passes under the headlight.

Get a Typhoon air intake (& airbox if you don't want to cut a hole in your existing airbox). It comes from both over the radiator and from directly behind the headlight.

If you get a pod, extend the piping to right down behind the headlight and a simple heat sheild, it works awesome.

Unifilter offer the whole package and it makes a difference to both performance and sound.

Also you can get away with up to 30 000km without having to clean it (depending on conditions) and it will never let dirt through, it will clog before it lets ANY dirt into your motor unlike K&N.

yer true.. the whole 10kilas thing was with the bonnet up on a dyno ay :| so yer it would f*ck up performance.. but that sound is to kill for :)
