Tried to start the T the other day and it started then stalled (this never happens). Tried the key again and nothing (NO, was NOT in gear!). Tried again and it started and ran fine but most of the dash lights like traction control, brakes etc etc stayed on. Neither speedo or tacho would work when driving and then realised air-con wasn't working either. Car revved fine, no problems. Got to the shops, cut the engine and re-started. It ran fine but most of the dash lights went out. Stopped the engine again, re-started after finishing the shopping and everything normal again :msm:

No probs again today. Car must have been frightened by the cyclone that almost hit Darwin and upset the electrics :censored:

Anyone else had this one before?

Hi hafadude,

I have not had exactly that problem, but I've experienced ignition issues on my BF which is about 5 months old. Sometimes in the morning, I go to start the car and it won't start after turning the key. I have to turn the key a few times before it will start. Had this happen to me at least 4 times now. This did not happen with my previous BA XR6.

You haven't been in the vicinity of any thermonuclear detonations have you ???? The Electro Magnetic Pulse can have those kind of side effects !!!:laughing:

Seriously, a friend of mine with a completely stock car had a similar thing happen on his Mk1 BA T while he was driving down the Hume Hwy, but his radio went crazy as well and the audio level wound itself up and he couldn't turn it down. Cause he couldn't get the speedo to work, he ended up getting pulled over by a copper for being 5km over the limit. When the copper asked why he was speeding he tried to explain it to him, but he wouldn't believe him. Then the copper said, "turn down your radio", and he said, "I can't". So the copper reached in and tried to turn it down, saw everything on the dash was going berserk, and then let him off with a warning and said he should take it easy til he gets to the nearest dealer !!!!

Took it to the dealer and they couldn't fault it. And guess what it never happened again...... go figure. :crybaby:

Robin.

Gee, the car was fine until today and it freaked out twice again today. Hmm, sounds like another visit for a warranty check. :spoton:

EviDaifu, yes, same thing as you. Had to try a couple of times before the ignition would kick in. BTW, how's your NT trip preparations going?

xlnt6, atomic bomb explosions?? If my dealer comes up with this explanation, I'll tell them to call you :spoton: They do mine uranium in the NT so all us T owners better watch out!

The TFT Display developed a fault last week... I have the luxury pack and the F@#$%ing thing only displays for 2 seconds when you change something on the stereo or the climate control. Which is less distracting at night, a bit like the SAAB black panel but annoying that it's on the fritz less than 6 months into it... Everything else is working fine... bar the rubber chevrons that are glued onto the leading edge of the hood where it touches the grill fell off - found one... guessing the other one got sucked into the air intake for engine and is currently friends with the K&N....

The thing still pulls like a pimply 14 year old... and that big wall of torque is just great for curling the toes and putting another 40 yards distance on the car behind you....

hey you've got night mode on - just press and hold the on/off switch on the radio and the screen will return to normal mode.

Ta for that...

Speaking about night mode - some f@#$er broke into 'Bill' (that's what my attractive female companion has named my BF 'T') last night by smashing one of the rear windows. Rifled thru the car but got disturbed by the restaurant staff (it was in the car park) so nothing taken but a big open space to let in the weather...

Reminds of what they do to vandals in Singapore where I've just been for work. Vandals - depending on the severity, can get 12 strokes of the rattan which is a 10 foot long piece of rattan soaked in water overnight that draws blood on each strike and results in hospitalisation...

Only silver lining is that girl wants to cheer me up from my dark mood over 'Bill' being damaged...
