Has anyone here bought one of those fpv steering wheels from places like ebay?

There always seems to be a few for sale continuously so im worried that they might be cheap imitations. here is one of them to look at:

http://cgi.ebay.com.au/FORD-BA-FPV-GT-TYPH...1QQcmdZViewItem

my dealer always tells me that these things cost him around $1000 to bring in so I'd much rather buy at the ebay prices, but only if they are the real deal.

How easy is it to fit one of these wheels? I know nothing about electronics, so I'd be worried about screwing up the airbag and any other things.

Yeh mate, they are the real deal, genuine Ford parts sold on eBay by a Ford dealer. They are obselete stock. Retail is over $1200 for both the proper FPV/sports wheel and also the Fairmont Ghia woodgrain version.

Disconnect battery

Undo hornpad/airbag torx screws on rear of wheel

Unplug airbag harness and audio control harness on horn pad/airbag

Undo centre torx bolt on wheel about 3/4 way and then pull hard on steering wheel

When steering wheel is loose undo torx bolt completely and slide wheel off and replace with new wheel

You will need to reprogram the time and the radio stations after reconnecting the battery

Procedure takes 10-15mins

LOL @ Dagabond!

they are prob seconds they were being sold on ebay last year I got one then rang autotek in melb who was the company supplying them to fpv and found out they were seconds .

The problem was were the fpv logo on the bottom of the wheel ,there was a little bit of hot glue stuck to the leather.

Now fpv get them from momo themselves now there a very little supply as there are no seconds around

cheers
