Reversing Camera

Guys,

Yesterday I had to purchase a small video camera to get into a really small spot (no, I know what you are thinking, that is a really big spot) and the best camera I found for the job happened to be car reversing camera. I only need it once for the job so I thought I might explore fitting it as a reversing camera for my T.

My question is, has anyone fitted one of these to a XR6T as yet, but more importantly, have they been able to connect it into the ICC? The camera is colour, 152 degree field of view, powered by 12v and has an RCA video output plug. It is small enough that you could drill a hole in the plastic piece above the number plate (you know the thing you put your fingers under to lift the bootlid) and would be entirely invisible unless you squatted down.

I have searched through the forum and only found one topic on Reversing Cameras however, that seemed to go nowhere. All seems possible for the point of view of fitting it in and powering the camera from the reversing lamp, the real question is, is there an auxilliary input for another video feed into the ICC. I am sure there are guys that have fed dvd inputs to the ICC, can this be done very simply without having to go to the expense of some form of splitter or /???..... ok, starting to run out of talent on my end here, just guessing now....

Well for starters the camera needs to be an NTSC output so that the picture it shows is compatible with the car's NTSC screen.

Doesn't need to be NTSC if you get one of these.

Just find somewhere to mount the camera, connect the convertor to the reverse lights, plug it all in and "Freds your Uncle!". :crybaby:

Reverse Camera on Factory TFT Screen

Add reverse camera capabilities to your colour ICC screen. When vehicle is put into reverse, image is displayed on the colour ICC screen. These camera's can be mounted in such a way that unsightly large holes do not need to be drilled into your panels. On a BA falcon the camera is mounted in centre of the bumper bar, where we drill a little hole and mounted there.

PRICE - Camera Included RRP $660.00

 .... for those sorts of prices, I can employ someone full time to walk behind my car!

So, what is the input to the ICC. Does it have an RCA or BNC input plug or do you need to tap into it?

Ok, time for me to do some more research into how guys have fitted DVD players in to the ICC

Is it a CMOS camera or a CCD?

I'm trying to find a decent wide angle CCD camera to hook up to mine. I've got the adaptor mentioned in one of the above posts from carconverters.

My only suggestion is to get a NTSC if everything else your using is NTSC. PAL if everything your using is PAL. The reason is because the picture scrolls for about a second when it changes between PAL to NTSC.
