Id had a similar experience with a blow out at 115km/hr on the h/way with 400+ doller Bridgestone POTENZAS.

Cause was over heating due to slow deflation with a nail, well that's what bridgestone said anyway, but I never saw the nail...

Are Michelin Pilot Sports for standard F6 18s really ~$620? I might be buying some soon.

Fark though, $2480 a set :spoton:

Just checked the retail price for Michelin PS 2 for 245/35/19's $740 each :msm:

Anybody else bought anything good in 18" lately?

Hey Luke,

I just bought some Yokohama Advan Sport V103 tyres in 245/40/ZR18. (Cheers to F6 Tornado for orgainsing these for me and putting me onto them :pooh:)

These tyres STICK LIKE GLUE. Although they only have a few ks on them (read < 200) I have found them to be really grippy, and DAMN QUIETER than the SP9000s.

I might point out that these are a relatively new tyre to the market too. 3-4 months maybe?

Cheers,

Ross

Cheers Ross,

They should be on my car Monday or Tuesday. $410 a corner seems pretty reasonable. I cant wait to piss these Maxxis off - they have never been able to hold the power of my car.

Blonk:

I used to race a heavily modded 6.0L V12 XJR-S on 18" rims clad with Falkens, and thought that they were excellent, both on the road and the track. I wouldn't write off the brand, when the reason for the tyre failure is, as you said, unclear.

PS Interesting thread - I think the Dunlops are rubbish, especially in the wet, and can't wait to replace them! Seems that the Advans are the way to go at the moment?

Ive been running yokohama es100's and pretty happy with their all round performance. Theyre only a fly sh*t cheaper than the advan v03's so ill be trying them next time for sure.
