I think you getting a little heated. It appears that the colors change quite often and this would appear to confuse people about the springs. The guy who assembles engine at the Ford plant would simply be taking them out of a bin and installing them.Unless he tests the springs in a spring tester how would he know.Only by color. and as we keep getting told the color changes frequently.Secondly the cylinder heads when purchased from Ford are bare no valves or springs and seeing as all the heads are the same it would stand to reason that the part numbers are the same. The reason Ford sell them this way is so they can be made to fit LPG gas, N/A petrol, Turbo model's,and Typhoon. You see LPG engines run different inlet valve to all the others N/A just have std material valves,Turbo's have inconell exhaust valves and Typhoons have standard turbo valve but with different valve springs.Imagine all the exta stock Ford would have to have assembled if they had all these different heads in stock waiting, compared to just selling bare units.

I'm afraid if Nizpro has tested them them he would be 99% correct.

99% correct actually means incorrect. Gotta be 100% correct in this day and age. No disrespect to simon, but everyone makes mistakes, And they all have the same part number. Explain that one.

Okay so I'm officially lost here, I either take the chance and just go the edit & injectors then hope that someone is right and the other is wrong and risk damage to my car or pay an extra $1000 odd bucks and get something I may not need.

It's not that I believe one any more than the other about the springs, I'm just going off information at hand and doubt leads me to lean in one direction and that's towards the one who has tested both the BF T & Phoon springs.

Though a Ford engine assembler should be the one to trust, I'm just lost on this one.

Lemme get this straight.

Nizpro tested the BF XR6T springs and determined that the springs are the same strength as the BA, and not the same as the Typhoon springs. However, someone effectively reading from a catalogue says that that's crap.

Is that a fair summary? I'm not having a go, just saying that tests ordinarily carry some weight.

All BF turbo engines use the same head assembly, wether its an XR or an F6. THEY ARE EXACTLY THE SAME. On the BA they were different. Red paint on the cylinder head was an XR, blue was an F6. The only difference was the springs. Now they are all red, which means the valve springs are all the same now. I even quiered the engineers during the the FEU builds and yes, the valve springs are all the same now. Can that be any clearer.

actually no, the phoons have different cams.

Geo,

suggestion for you. On the presumption that you want good valve springs - Go to Nizpro - get them to remove a single valve spring from YOUR car and test it - along with an uprated spring, and a BA XR6T spring (I can provide one if you like) - If you want to you could also request to witness this - The relative spring rates can then be seen - there should be no charge if Simon got this wrong. If not then you can go ahead and replace the springs confident in the knowledge that it was money well spent. Don't see how you can loose! Have it checked and confirmed for your car.

Then you can give us all an update to clear this up once and for all.

Good luck :pinch:

actually no, the phoons have different cams.

<{POST_SNAPBACK}>

No they don't, every 6 cylinder has exactly the same cams wether its an LPG, petrol or turbo. The only thing different is the cam phasing programs in the ECU that control how much the cams retard/advance at various points in the rev range.

So are you saying the valves are all the same too LPG,Turbo and N/A

<{POST_SNAPBACK}>

No, the valves aren't the same. The turbos use different valves to the standard engines, and the LPG valves are different from standard too.
