Parking Brake Under Warranty?

had my car for a few weeks and noticed today when I parked it on a hill that the car started to roll (a little) with the parking brake engaged. I had to pull it up even more higher, and when the I placed gears in "P" it stopped rolling.

I am assuming that the parking brake just needs tightening.

Does anyone know if this is covered under warranty? The next service for the car is not until another 10k, kms and obviously I cant wait that long until I get the parking brake fixed.. . but its just that I am being a tight for a few weeks.. even if its not under warranty, would it cost me a lot to get done?

Have u had your 3k service, they regularaly adjust the handbrake at service itervals.

Yeah, sorry should have been more specific...

car is second hand.. 60 odd k, kms on it.. the next service isnt until 75K...

handbrake is not covered under warranty.

I think it is $45.00 to tighten it.

Warranty probably wont cover it but at that age might be a healthy option to replace tha cable cant be that expensive um I think.

It is .4 of an hour to adjust and it shouild not be the cable. Basically it is a crap design and needs constant adjusment and is not something they cover under warranty

They do? You'd better get your dealer to ring mine and tell them that! If the handbook doesn't recommend it then it probably won't get done. The wheels could be falling off but that's not in the handbook for the 40,000km service...

Anything that is considered an "Adjustment" isnt covered by warranty, hence handbrake, wheel alignment, camber/castor is chargeable.

Unless there is a faulty component that requires replacing then its an "adjustment"
