hi guys,

I am just wondering if I can use the kits from any of Japanese brands to modify the power up?

for example, AVCR to boost up, HKS or other japanese brands' exhusts, intercool....etc.

could the procedure be same as modifying japanese cars?

thanks

you could use all these things to try and increase the power and performance on any car. it doesn't have to be a jap car, but it would make it easier to fit the type of car it was made for. The main problem people are having with the xr6t to modify is that the computer is too clever and limits everything no matter what you do till you change the numbers the computer limits its power to. Its not an easy thing to do as many are finding out. Hope this helps. You can fit all these things to a BA but they wont do anything till the computer is redone!

As a matter of fact Harasn is right. I have tried to boost up my ute but to no avail. We finally got the boost up without the computer going in to limp mode, then we were checking the dyno and the car was making less power. eg; 9-10 psi it would only reach 180-200 hp at the wheels. Where standard I was getting 264hp at the wheels with a 3inch exhaust. Before exhaust 232hp. Which is very interesting, so I have left it standard for now until I get the 3000km checkover.

So an exhaust mod actually did improve your performance without altering the computer? This is interesting coz CJF077 has an exhaust on his auto turbo sedan and was making less power than some others with standard exhaust at the dyno day. So confusing...

I think this will be the go in the future, but as was said above, we wait untill the EEC VII is effectively 'cracked'.

Using the massive amount of experience Japanese modders have had with turbo cars can only be a good thing.

Have you guys seen this thread from Fordforums - 23extra kw's at rear wheels with a 3.5" mandrel exhaust on auto XR6T.

Adding an exhaust system to an otherwise stock XR6T does next to nothing. On the odd occassion, when the car is warm you MAY get an additional 10rwkw. When its cold, or not up to full operating temp you will more than likely get 10rwkw LESS. that's a fact we have proven many, many times. In fact, with the centre muffler removed and replaced with two straight pipes, there is nothing on the aftermarket that will surpass the stock twin system. Try it and find out, like I did

So there is power to be had without changing or modifying the ECU?
