If anyone needs any convincing that the guys at NIZPRO know what they are talking about, and in light of Dingah's comments on his experience with Simon , Dave and Ryan, well I just had the 'Cobra' Phase 1 and I now drive an XR6T that I thought I was going to get when I handed over $50K to Ford last year. The problems I have experienced were classified by Ford as "Characteristics" of the vehicle. Not so, Simon and his team fixed my surging problem and gave me back a vehicle that Ford could not do from the begining.

Happy, you bet I am. It's amazing what the intellectual capacity of the dedicated crew at NIZPRO can do for your XR6T. In a nutshell, if you are not consulting with Simon and his team you are not in the the same race.

2005 XR6T, 6 Speed Manual, 275RWKW, with a few mods.

Dingah, sounds like we have an almost identical setup with:

APS Phase II - Unichip + Edit + PWR Intercooler + Valve Springs

..so I know exactly how you feel! :spoton:

Excellent informative write-up. Enjoy lots of spirited and fun driving. :msm:

Safe and happy driving...Dr Z. :pinch:

Gudday mate - extraordinary that you should put that post up Z, that went through my mind when doing the write up and I wondered about the benefit of repeating some of the tech details.

Upon reflection if there was to be a next time (notwithstanding mods to other running gear like brakes and suspension) I would likely only do the NizEdit, injectors, 2nd CAI, I/c and springs and leave the standard exhaust on but with a better flowing cat. That way it could keep a totally standard appearance.

I feel that the standard T exhaust is under rated and as sensational as the APS exhaust is in terms of back pressure, looks and general engineering a llittle more peace and quiet in the cabin would be good.

Hi Dingah

309!!! I thought you were happy with the 296 when I left the other day.

You must be ecstatic now.

Great to meet you at Nizpro, hopefully we'll catch up again when you go the full Cobra kit :smilielol:

Agree Deek - always nice to put a person to the posts so to speak. After my last couple of grumpy posts though I regret that the image might be a little different than reality.

Simon, Dav and Ryan are a great team and Nizpro's work is first class. The 309 surprised me too, and that was without pushing to the ping limit and backing off.

Cheers,

Good write up and feedback, and a good looking graph.

I've fixed your graphs so they are now the right way up (I hope you don't mind... it got the better of me).

You have to look at the power result with the boost used .... in this case 12.5lb for 309rwkw is a very good result.

It demonstrates (to me) how far we've come over the past 2 years, when I would have needed around 15-16lb with a piggy-back to get the same result, plus overall drivability has markedly improved. Tuner capability has also improved, with increasing knowledge and practice, with more consistant results, and of course the Edit product has made this possible.

Good point that Brian about the lower boost figures these days. As strong a supporter of the chip in the past that I was, and for good reason, we are no longer in the regime where Unichip could play. We also have a lot of folk to thank for those development paths, folk like yourself who are willing to push the curve and see where the limits are. As you know, pioneering in this game can get expensive.

Sorry about the graphs and thanks for flipping them - I found the valve spring difference the most interesting graph - certainly put the spring debate to bed for me.

What's next for you and the nuclear powered beast?

Yes, pioneering and R&D.

I don't know where Simon's at currently, as he's been flat out the last 2 months, doing a lot of Ford Ts, plus other work, so the R&D hasn't had much focus.

The next development is to transfer the Motec independent cam control mapping to the Edit, and those maps he has developed over the last 3 years. This mapping can potentially make a huge difference to performance not just fo me, but for everyone.

Independent cam control would be a watershed development for Edit and the Falcon, hope it turns out to be a successful venture. I can also imagine that there will be a few legendary tuners out there that could make a real pig's bum of the settings too!
