well, my Auto is being rebuilt as we sit here, the next weak link will more than likely be the diff. If I can bust the Planetary's in the auto then the diff shouldnt be a challenge for me! :msm:

What is the best way to upgrade?

Do the internals of the ute diff match the sedan?

Anyone blew up a ute diff? Or any XR6T diff for that matter!

Mate the diffs are tuff in the utes. I run way over 300rwkw and have done for 18 months. I have broken the auto 4 times but never the diff and that includes drag race launching stalled up at Calder and Heathcote. I think you will be ok in the diff department.

Hey Dannopower.... I've got over 300 rwkw and no dramas using street tyres.

I was always considering a tough 9" rear if it ever let go....

But probably not essential to do immediately.

That's good feedback deano.... :crybaby:

I have been holding off using stickier rubber at the strip, but with positive feedback like that, looks like that might change.

I haven't heard of any ute diffs in XR6 "T"'s blown yet....

Are there any?

Im running 300rwkw with a std diff. have had no dramas at all. the rubber on the road seems to be the insurance as it lets go before your diff would.

fyi im 99% sure that nizpros ute is still running a standard diff with there 1000hp motor in it.

what year is your car Danno cause my trans guy tells me that the early boxess have pretty piss weak planetary set because they where pre maseratti upgrade.

one other thing to note. after about 7 months of running around with 300rwkw and less than 650nm ( i now have 800 so im even more cautious) when the ute went in for a trans rebuild my trans guy noticed that three of the six bolts that fasten the rubber doughnut coupling to the diff had sheared...... :tease:

may be something u want to check out will your cars down........ :crybaby:

Cheers Luke.

Seems my diff will be fine!

As for my trans its an 10/04 build, but the planetarys are being replaced anyway, since I broke 2 teeth off them completely. My doughnut coupling is ok, have checked already.

So the CV's in the driveshaft will be the next to go I guess!

I’m over 300rwkw and had no problems yet. :omg:

It seems the diffs on the Utes are a lot stronger, then sedans?

But saying that, my mate has gone through three diffs in his XR8, but there must have been a bad batch of them?

If your diff hasn’t blown yet, I would say it would be fine!

I believe if you have 3.45 ratio its the older diff set up. if you have 3.46 ratio its the newer stronger diff.I think the internals are a little bigger.kaaz make a tuff diff centre that is popular in motorsport like curciut racing.

in my xr6t ute I have ripped the axle tubes out of the diff centre and crushed the leaf spring mounts on the diff tubes, up to my third rear cv joint.

My utes running over 300+rwkw

Now had the diff tubes braised to the casting of the diff housing all good so far.
