New Legislation

Featured Replies

March Motor magazine has an article regarding new legislation regarding modifications to vehicles...

Looks like ADR compliance might become a strong factor in choosing options.

The legislation draft allows for 20% increase in factory cubic capacity or power....

greater than that, and emissions tests and ADR compliance issues become necessary... going to open up a minefield .....

The Commisioner of the RTA is a law unto himself, what he says goes, no legal argument will be accepted and the only one that can overturn his decision is the Comissioner of the RTA.

ADRs are australia wide... Australian Design Rules.

All states are supposed to abide by these rules when considreing licensing options. Anything outside the realm of ADRs must be tested and certified by a mechanical engineer and approved in writing before the car can be licensed.

The difference between states is that where some have regular inspections to renew rego, others only have one inspection necessary and, if you are not caught, mods can be made to the car without anyone knowing.

Hello yellow sticker if you get caught though.

I can see it now,

RTA inspectors with mobile dynos, straping them down and doing power runs, then us arguing that he has the inlet temp set too high and is giving a false reading.

I guess the only ones safe from all this is the GT's, hey jeff.

Oh and edited GenIII vomitors.

We will be wearing helmets in cars next, just wait and see.
