that's all well and great on a track, a nice controlled surface that never changes lap after lap, but try do a WRX or EVO through a mountain pass, like the Spur and you will lose, and that's apples with apples (stock vs stock or modded vs modded). I've owned both and I know the XR is a damn fine car, but I also know the Soobie was that much better through the twisty stuff. Its grip, size and poise through slow and medium corners was brilliant. Yup the XR would be a car lenght or two ahead in a rolling start but most other places the Soobie (a Gen2 Legacy converted to Ver3 Sti running gear) would beat it, well for now anyway, but not for long.

Yup I love my XR but damn I miss the Soobie....well sometimes....

Once again, it all comes down to the driver. Do you not agree?

Hey,

I just bought myself an XR6T 04. I previously had an EL XR6.

What I want to know is how quick are they really, compared to other Standard road Cars. I want to know what I can beat. I knew the limits of my EL XR6 so I wouldnt take on anything that I couldnt beat..  But I want to know how the Turbo goes against, SS, WRX, 200SX's , etc... I want to know from people that have driven and beaten other cars... Obviously the fun in having the car is to test out for my self, but I want to have an indication as well...

Private roads I bet

Yeah the driver makes the most difference, but all things being equal, and hell, we all know they never are. Lets just say we put two complete raving Hyundai Elantra driving race car drivers (I was gunna use honda but you know, every one does that), in each car, the rex will mould to the driver much easier than a high Hp rear driver will.

And as for Soobies being laggy, well maybe yours was but I was running a 3k stall with a full drag auto with a VF34, GpN Ver3 Sti engine, 650cc injectors, M/T LT8, FMIC, and trust me there was no lag. Used to piss manual drivers right off, especially being in a wagon. The shift could rattle your soul, but hey it was smooth as silk when the throttle was nailed firmly to the floor.

I was comparing my XR to my Legacy, both modded, so yeah I can compare them. Back in the realm....

User friendly is what sells Subarus to the masses, turbo and NA versions, and having driven a quick one for 3 years, and now owning a quick XR, I know which one I trust in the hands of anyone.

Yes the Xr is rewarding in the right hands, but ultimately the WRX (or any turbo AWD rocketship) is a lot easier to get the speed out of, of course they both being the same level of mods and just your average driver. Im no race car driver, never said I am, but I know which ones easier to drive at the limit, although the AWD's limit is fun to reach, whereas the XR's can be hair raising, but ultimately more rewarding (nothing like a 3rd gear drift).
