no, it doesnt all come down to the driver. the reasons it doesnt are mechanical differences like all wheel drive, driver controlled centre differential, active yaw control and active centre diff.

the handling on the evo's now for example, is so good that just about any hack can drive one fast around a track - the smarts in the car takes care of the handling.

check out the top gear episode where they put an evo 8 against a lamborghini murchialago if you need some proof. that's the league evo's and sti's are playing in wrt to handling - supercar territory.

love your xr6t for what it is, big, comfy and with little $$, a straight line monster (much more so than an sti/evo). but if you think it will ever handle anywhere near as good as an evo or 05+ STi, then you are absolutely kidding yourself.

we can beat modded up rx7s (the old ones though) with a stock xr6t. two of them. lol. and for you guys with asian friends who drive hondas, we can beat there type r's as well, off the line and to the finish, to the extent that they dont want to race you ^^

man I love my car

from what I have read a good custome tuned edit will hose any stock wrx's as well as the sti and evo.

anyone with an edit had any experiences with these cars?

My T is stock and I've hosed many WRX's - actually I'm yet to be beaten.... so an edited T should kill.... not sure about the Evo though....

The features of a car are ony really useful to the driver if they know how to use them properly... Whilst a good driver will usually beat a bad driver, it will be a lot closer match if the good driver is in a crap car and the bad driver is in a good car...

it's really one of those gray area's which can only really be proven on a track... in the conditions which favour car x over car y...

Well im talking about a true road situation, I dont care about a track atm, and a rex will beat an XR6T stock for stock, its is what they do so well, the Xr has its advantages aswell, but the Soobies one is grip, and shedloads of it.

its getting pretty close now between stock wrx's and the T, comes down to launch and how quick your particular car is (there is a lot of variation between same make/model)

if you have never been beat then you havent run many cars at all.

"it comes down to the driver"

I've probably taken on at least 8-9 Rex's (on private roads of course) up to and including the last model and not one got close.... and a couple those guys couldn't believe it either.... maybe its time I put my T on a dyno and see what its pumping out stock....maybe its that old adage that if you drive it like you stole it, who knows who much extra, even if little, advantage you have over other standard T's....

As a side note, I had a Expensive Daewoo Adventura V8 try me yesterday...I had to laugh, didn't even bother.....

WRX= UGLY/SMALL/POVO PAK INTERIOR/CANT TOW A BOAT  (and the reason they all get drilled on the street by the T's is that if the rex driver doesnt know if the other is draggin, they take off normally then once on the throttle, they get dusted every time.. in order to launch the rice boxes, you need to drop the clutch at 6,000rpm whereas the T has way more at low revs.

Iv drilled many a modified WRX's in not only the old SS, but also the Phoon which are dead STOCK. No stupid noisy bov's or ridiculously loud exhausts that all sound the same as one another!

LOL. This outta stir up some s*^t. :spoton:
