Another Intercooler Option

There is another intercooler available for the XR6T, its going to retail for around the $500-$550 mark, it will fit factory plumbing. Dimension are 450*300*78.

Been speaking to the sales manager at Autotecnica

I have posted a image of it as well that he sent me. I think it is a nice cheap upgrade from the factory one.

correct DW did design it, you can PM him about were to get it from, OR you can buy it from him or they will be sold via repco and autobarn I think.

You get what you pay for when it comes to coolers and buying a cheaper bigger one isnt always a good thing the ford one maybe small but it is a good brand garrett id suggest staying with garrett

I have ordered one, should have it next week. I will get it installed at Tunehouse in sydney and do a before and after dyno run, then a retune depending if I can get a hi-flow cat as well. I will post the results and pics of the install. If its any good we will find out.

Im not so sure,

I have this cooler in my car, I did dyno runs with a stock cooler, at 260 rwkw, 4 of back to back, and 12 psi boost it was running between 80-85 deg C, intake temp, this was measured with a digital temp probe, in the hose just at the start of the cross-over, each run got hotter and hotter, incrasing by 2-3 deg C each run, back to back.

Same dyno, different tune, 300 rwkw, this cooler as listed above, intake temp measured at the same spot, 14 spi boost now, intake temp from 58-63 deg C, the ambiant temp was 7 deg hotter on the test day for the new cooler/tune.

I am not trying to say they are the best, but at that sort of coin, if you have adecent exhaust, enough fuel (inj and pump), why not treat the engine to a 30 deg C drop in temp?

I know on winding roads, say 15-20 k long, mine on the stock cooler was loosing go by a few K's in, say corners at 35kph indicated, short straights, with no real area for cool air to come in, now, it doesnt, it is as strong at the end as it is at the start.

One other thing I did change was the thermostat, I went down to a 160deg and had the fans mapping changed to suit, which I think would have made a difference but not 30 deg C to the intake.

My first choice would be an APS cooler and Nizpro plenum, but I havnt got the coin for that so this will do me.
